I got my start at Young & Rubicam as an admin doing mountains of expenses for chauffeured executives.
Six months later I worked my way into account management.
From there, I worked on my portfolio at night.
l landed my dream job. Copywriter at TBWA\Chiat\Day.
Day 2 of the dream job, the account I was hired for went into review.
Day 3, I met Lee Clow in the elevator and he tells me he’s going to save my job (he did).
Advertising has opened my world and I’m grateful.
It allowed me to my ideas blessed by Steve Jobs, Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos and the Pentagon.
I was allowed to wrote :90 Super Bowl commercial for Ford.
I somehow launched IBM’s first cloud campaign.
Kicked it wiHung out with Dave Chapelle in a parking lot on Easter morning.
Rickroll America.
And I’ve had some incredible mentors along the way, which means I’ll be paying it forward forever.
I believe empathy is key when dealing with briefs, teams, or clients.
Effort can outmaneuver talent.
And when it’s all said and done, I’d to be remembered as a blue collar guy that was damn good at solving some white collar problems.
